Each holiday has a description that can be matched to the correct holiday. A brief overview can help students learn about each holiday and review why we celebrate them after the unit is over.
Main ideas and details help teach important information and by providing the main idea and allowing the learners to create details you building a foundation for students understand main idea as they read. After reading books about the jobs of the president and being a good citizen have your learners write details to each of those ideas. By elaborating learners will be able to have a better understanding of both concepts.
Having a visual resource to use throughout the unit will help learners remember the information they are learning. American symbols, presidents and money can all be taught during the unit and a flipchart may be created for the lapbook.
The Pledge of Allegiance is also included in the lapbook to help learners practice reciting the pledge. With all of the parts of the lapbook, students can learn, review and enjoy all the information they are studying about America.
