I love thematic learning games, but having generic activities that can be used all year on hand is a must. My son loves playing learning games at home and our fishbowl alphabet game is a hit every time.
We use this simple and fun game to help identify our letters. Grayson is learning his alphabet and having a game that allows him to explore all of the letters of the alphabet is ideal. I am able to pull out letters he has trouble identifying and ask him to say the sounds the letter makes.
One of our favorite games is “What Comes Next?” After matching the letters (or a group of letters) I place two letters together and have Grayson find the letter that comes next. It is perfect to teach or reinforce alphabetic order after reviewing the letter names.
The next time we play this game I will be adding paper clips to the fish cards and tie a magnet on a dowel rod with string or purchase this fishing pole. Grayson will love being able to “fish” for the lowercase letters and I will love the extra practice he will get with those tricky letters of the alphabet.
