Snowy Day Alphabet Activity

This post may contain affiliate links.  Please read our disclosure here.

Grayson is getting SO GOOD at identifying the alphabet and sounds. I am one proud Mommy!  We try to incorporate a lot of letters and sounds into our daily routines, and he is picking it up like crazy!  I wanted to share a quick activity I pulled together. It’s a great practice for the alphabet and sounds, as well as, some scissor practice.

If you follow my blog, you might remember when Grayson and I matched capital and lowercase letters.  I kept the tub of fake snow and will continue to use it until spring time. It might be all the snow we get to have this year!  I simply grabbed the tub, added some Lakeshore Letter Beads I already had, and gave little man a pair of Learning Resources Handy Scoopers.  I love these scoopers.  They are a great tool to use when introducing scissor skills when they aren’t ready for the real thing.

Grayson used his scoopers to grab a bead. Next, he said the letter name and sound and dropped it back into the tub…easy, peasy…and he LOVED it!

There are so many ways to use this set up for all learners.  Find some number cubes for number recognition.  Word blocks can be searched as well for your beginner learners.  You little one can go on a shape search in the snow.  The possibilities are endless!
