I heard of Hot Dots for the first time when I was in my second year of teaching. A colleague and I were doing some Back to School shopping and found a Beginning Phonics set we wanted to try out and I am so glad we did!
My kindergarteners LOVED using the Hot Dots Beginning Phonics set
I bought a set of pens and added more instructional sets to my classroom for both literacy and math. My learners were able to practice skills in a fun way everyday and I was able to check a literacy center and math center activity off my to-do list each week.
I knew that they were not only getting practice, but the Hot Dots pen was able to help them know whether or not they had chosen the correct answer. A self-checking center that I could give to my students with NO prep from me…yes, please!
So, when I came across Hot Dots Jr. Pete the Cat Set, I knew my son would LOVE to experience this exciting way of learning just like my kinders did. My assumptions were correct and he has been asking to play with Pete since he opened his birthday gift.
I am a strong believer in giving children toys and tools that will help them learn while still having fun and Hot Dots does just that. If you are wondering what to give your child’s friend, teacher or a parent from down the street this fun tool might just be what they need.
