Purposeful Thematic Teaching

Purposeful Thematic
Teaching

First of all, thank you so much for choosing to come to my session at the 2019 TXAEYC Conference. I hope that you are able to apply some of the information I presented to reflect and grow as a professional.

Below you will find links to the powerpoint presentation, resources, and websites I shared during our session. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Powerpoint Presentation

Review the importance of knowing your guidelines, learners capabilities and needs and how to engage children through integrated thematic teaching.

You will also be able to refer to the research that supports purposeful thematic instruction in early childhood learning environments.

Guidelines and Standards

Knowing the state guidelines and standards set in place for your learners is essential to creating a purposeful learning environment.

Remember that not all learners are on the same level so be sure to refer to all relevant guidelines so you are able to make informed instructional decisions in the classroom

Free Thematic Unit

Practice what we talked about in our session by choosing and/or adapting resources in a premade thematic unit. Be sure to keep in mind the guidelines for your learners, their current capabilities and needs and how to actively engage learners with hands-on experiences.

You can choose a thematic unit here and use the code TXAEYC2019 when checking out to get the unit free. The code will expire November 1, 2019.

If you have any questions or need help in incorporating purposeful thematic teaching in your learning environment feel free to contact me at elissa.jones@mrsjonescreationstation.com.
