Digital Activities in the Classroom

This post may contain affiliate links.  Please read our disclosure here.

The digital age has exploded in the classroom! Every room you walk into has laptops and hand held devices. Students are recording themselves and creating videos to show what they know. It’s a fantastic way of learning, and we need to take advantage of it! Digital learning is now the new learning in every classroom.

Learning With Google Slides ™

Google™ has done an incredible job in introducing technology into the classroom. It’s easy to use and along with your Google Drive™, you keep everything in one place.

Learning With Seesaw

Similar to Google Classroom, Seesaw provides teachers and learners with the ability to assign, respond and engage in so many fun learning activities.  You can create a Seesaw account here.

All you need to have is a Google account, Google Classroom™ and you’re good to go! It’s perfect for classroom learning along with homeschooling or distance learning. You can read more about setting up your Google Classroom™ here.

This freebie is a snippet of some of the things you can find in my Digital Learning Activities that you can find in both my MJCS Store and Teachers Pay Teachers Store.

Rhyming

The first part of this free resource is a quick, interactive activity on rhyming. It’s a great activity to use when you want to assess your students, but not so much with pen and paper. Take a look to see how it all works!

Rhyming is a big part of the reading process. It helps readers understand word families and how words are built. Here are some of the rhyming standards you will find in a kindergarten class:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.2.A
Recognize and produce rhyming words.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.2.E
Add or substitute individual sounds (phonemes) in simple, one-syllable words to make new words.

TEKSLA.K.2.A.i
Identifying and producing rhyming words.

Addition

The next part of this free resource is addition practice. This can be used as a technology center to practice early stages of addition. And, no need to have counters or manipulatives. Each slide illustrates the addition problem for your visual learners. Here’s what the standards have to say about addition in kindergarten.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.OA.A.1
Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings1, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.OA.A.2
Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.

TEKSMA.K.3.A
Model the action of joining to represent addition and the action of separating to represent subtraction.
