APPLE ACTIVITIES FOR LITTLE LEARNERS

This post may contain affiliate links.  Please read our disclosure here.

September brings a lot of fun thematic units in the classroom. Apple units are so fun for Preschool, Pre-K and even Kindergarten classrooms. This time I year, I fill my room with apple activities, Apple Books and conduct apple science investigations!

Everything You Need

When I sat down to create my thematic units, I knew I wanted to help teachers cut their planning time in half. I know how precious time is to a teacher. I provide you with everything you need to have a successful and enjoyable unit every time. Add other supplemental activities to fill in gaps, and you have more time to do the things you enjoy!

My apple activities unit starts off with detailed lesson plans and instructions for each activity included. And if you know me, I love BOOKS! Each lesson is started with one of my favorite apple themed read aloud picture books. You can see all of my favorites over at my Amazon store!

Introduce Apple Themed Words

This isn’t your ordinary apple science unit. Why not combine literacy AND science? With this Apple Word wall, you can include fun writing activities about apples in your writing center. You can have students write about apples in their science journal. The possibilities are endless!

Work on reading skill as a whole class or for small group instruction with my interactive apple poem. My interactive poems are a huge hit as it changes every time we read it!

Apple Science Activities

This unit focuses on where apples come from, the characteristics of an apple and fun ways to use apples! Start with the life cycle of an apple. This fun activity shows you the order of how apples grow!

Next, we move onto the apple tree! Apple trees are so beautiful. If you live in a place with all four seasons (unlike me!), you can see the amazing changes an apple tree goes through!

We end the week with a fun apple investigation. I bring various types of apples, slice them in half and pass them out to each student. We focus on the number of seeds there are, what they look like, describe the peel and then end by tasting the apple.

Literacy and Math Centers

Of course, I have to include literacy and math centers to ALL of my thematic units. This provides students a chance to practice previous skills taught while you work with small groups. It’s a perfect way to meet all levels of learners!

You can purchase my All About Apples Thematic Unit below! This will help pull you away from work and enjoy the things you love the most!
