A Heart Anatomy Activity

Every year when I sit down to plan my Valentine’s Day activities, I tend to lean more towards math and literacy activities.  Anything literacy holds a special place in my heart.  However, I realized I needed to offer a variety of activities for this unit and this heart anatomy activity was just what I needed!

My Heart

I created this little booklet to teach young learners about heart anatomy and what our heart does inside our body.   It’s a great quick activity to show your readers how powerful our heart really is!  I couldn’t get away from literacy completely, now could I?

There are a variety of ways to use this book in your class, but I suggest using it in a small group setting during your reading or science block.  Your readers will be able to practice a number of sight words along with Valentine’s Day themed words!  The pictures add a great visual to help guide your readers as they practice reading.

Prep Time

Of course, you need to prep the book before using it at your small group table.

If you’re pressed for time, you can put this heart anatomy activity booklet in a center, but make sure your expectations are explained clearly.  It’s probably not your normal center, but it’s a great way to get the busy work out of the way.

And for your higher readers, you can use it as a buddy reading center!

As you can see, there are so many fun ways to use this science related book in your class!  If you want a copy of this book for your class, click on the link below!
